Deliver comprehensive, compassionate and quality patient care. The mission is consistent with the hospital's mission, which is to deliver a wide variety of community oriented health services/programs. Under the direction and guidance of the professional staff and registered nurse, performs a variety of clinical/ clerical duties and tasks to provide effective patient care.

Rooming patients

(taking vitals, weight, and height) Obtaining and documenting patient history Measuring vital signs

(blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) Performing point-of-care testing

(e.g., glucose, urinalysis) Administering medications and injections

as directed by a provider Performing EKGs Assisting with minor procedures Specimen collection

(e.g., blood, urine, throat swabs) Maintaining exam room cleanliness

and restocking supplies Preparing and sterilizing instruments Scheduling patient appointments Managing phone calls

(answering inquiries, relaying messages) Updating electronic health records (EHR) Assisting with prior authorizations and referrals Filing and scanning documents into EHR

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required - HS Diploma or Equivalence License(s) Required- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program Experience/Skills Required - One (1) year previous experience in a medical setting. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Bilingual preferred. Knowledge of Computer Technology preferred. Successful completion of St. Barnabas Hospital orientation.
