Job Summary The Webmaster will be responsible for developing and administrating Dalton State College¿s primary website to ensure proper functionality, security, and a positive user experience. The Webmaster works closely with leadership in the Office of Marketing and Communications and internal partners to determine website strategy, design, and functionality to satisfy customer needs, industry standards and best practices. The Webmaster will work across technical systems and non-technical customers to provide excellent service in a highly responsive manner and manage various priorities. This is a on-site position based in our Dalton, GA Campus. Front-end website design and development - 50% - Builds and maintains functional and user-friendly websites, adhering to best practices in website architecture and design - Creates, updates and publishes website content to ensure accuracy and relevance - Identifies and resolves technical issues, including debugging pages and fixing broken links or images - Collaborates proactively with college units to manage content, train users and content managers, and address technical issues in a professional and timely manner.

Website administration - 25% - Manages website hosting services and external providers of web-related services; oversees domain registration and renewal - Performs functional, usability, compatibility, and interface testing to ensure websites work well on different platforms - Works with infrastructure team to coordinate patching and upgrades - Implements and maintains security measures to protect the websites from cyber threats - Performs routine site audits, as well as ongoing maintenance, on an as-needed basis.

Assessment and planning - 25% - Monitors and analyzes site performance (e.g., traffic, conversions, updates); optimizing web pages and content to improve search engine rankings and increase organic traffic to the website - Establishes measurable goals with cross-functional teams to assess and improve user experience outcomes - Stays current with emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating relevant innovations into operational practices - Oversees design and implementation of website development projects. Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements - Associate degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Required Qualifications - Experience with WordPress CMS or other open-source content system, including theme and plugin development, maintenance, user administration, page design, and SEO. - Three years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications - Five or more years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education or a similarly complex organization. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES - Ability to assess and develop web content in compliance with accessibility requirements. - Ability to implement SEO strategies and analytics tools to optimize web performance. - Ability to collaborate with and train non-technical content managers on web publishing tools and standards. - Ability to establish and maintain consistent design standards across digital platforms. - Ability to manage projects independently, demonstrating initiative, organization, and attention to detail. - Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and present technical concepts to audiences. - Ability to work effectively in a team environment, using strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

KNOWLEDGE - Knowledge of website architecture and design principles, including aesthetics and user experience. - Knowledge of Linux operating system and Apache web server is desirable. - Knowledge of Google SEO, Analytics, Tag Manager, and Custom Search Engine (CSE). - Knowledge of information security best practices, particularly as they apply to web development. - Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards, and their application to web content.

SKILLS - Skill in web development. - Skill in applying cross-browser and cross-platform web development techniques, including responsive web design. - Skill in using programming languages, frameworks, and tools, such as MySQL, PHP, HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, AJAX, XML, NPM, Git, and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
