Under the general direction of the Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Senior Transportation Engineer performs as a Design Manager (DM) and Task Manager (TM) for design activities. The incumbent may also serve as a dual hat Project Manager (PM) on some projects and oversee consultant contracts. The incumbent will manage project delivery tasks and coordinate with all District functions, Headquarters Structure Design, Legal Department, and local agencies to monitor and control tasks to ensure timely delivery. Position located at 2885 S. Higuera Street, San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. Work may occur in a climate-controlled, cubicle office environment with travel to field locations. When field work is involved, proper safety precautions must be communicated and followed. This position may be eligible for telework. In-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Business travel may be required; travel reimbursements follow CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location are the responsibility of the selected candidate. Minimum Requirements

This position requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers for appointment. Please provide a 2 page or less, 12-point font SOQ detailing the following: Describe your experience and knowledge of the Department's policies, standards, and procedures in the application of design and the project development process as it relates to the Duty Statement for this position. Discuss your experience and knowledge in preparing project documents relating to project development procedures, standards, policies, and practices. Include experience in PS&E, technical reports, memorandums, and letters. Discuss your experience leading functional work teams to deliver quality products on time and in a cooperative environment with effective communication. Discuss your experience in communicating with other agencies and local organizations, developing networks, and building internal and external partnerships, including with District personnel and Headquarters. Include practices in planning, organizing, assigning work, and reviewing work of professional staff. Note: Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
