Job Description Summary
About URI:
The University of Rhode Island enrolls approximately 17,000 students across its graduate and undergraduate programs and is the State's flagship public research university, as well as the land grant and sea grant university, for the state of Rhode Island. The main campus is located in the historic village of Kingston, and the Bay Campus is located in Narragansett. Both campuses are near major beaches in a beautiful coastal community. URI is just 30 minutes from Providence, RI and within easy reach of Newport, Boston, and New York City.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE IS POSSIBLE AFTER SIX MONTHS. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________
POSITION SUMMARY:
Support the research development team by managing limited submission opportunities, communicating funding opportunities, preparing templates for common proposal sections, preparing project management templates, coordinating events and similar tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall support for the research initiatives and development team: Maintain the team's file management system. Logistics of scheduling and supporting complex meetings (e.g with more than 2-3 participants from outside of the division of research.) Maintain tracking of team metrics under new IBB Service Level Agreement and work with AVP on an annual report for the team's activities. Research Development Work:
InfoReady: primary manager of limited submission and internal funding competitions in InfoReady.
Maintain a calendar of limited submission opportunities, create the competitions in info ready, manage and reply to inquiries from applicants and reviewers, produce reports to assist the limited submission review decision. Together with the director of research development, liaise with the faculty subcommittee on research for management of internal seed funding programs.

Weekly funding opportunities newsletter Research community announcements Maintain accuracy of the list serve recipients Provide periodic reports to leadership on open and click rates Develop and implement process for communicating strategic opportunities to researchers Develop templates for common sections of proposals and regularly update templates Develop proposal development project management templates for proposals the research development team is supporting. Maintain organization of appropriations request materials OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications and event support:
Web page editing backup person. Lead event coordinator for Research Development events, including speed networking events, the new early career cohort grant writing workshop, Lewis-Burke campus visits, research development webinars, etc. Assist AVP of research initiatives with developing government relations communications
Perform other duties as assigned.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers; high speed internet; word processing and spreadsheet software.
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED :
1. Bachelor's degree in a social science or other liberal arts discipline.
2. Minimum one year of experience with research administration.
3. Experience with software including spreadsheets, word processing, PDF preparation, and research administration systems such as InfoEd and InfoReady.
4. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
5. Proficiency in written communication skills.
6. Organizational skills.
7. Experience in searching for extramural funding.
8. Ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED :
1. Master's degree in a social science or other liberal arts discipline.
2. Experience with listserv software such as Constant Contact.
