Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager to solve deep technical problems and build innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment working with smart, passionate software developers and product managers. This is an opportunity to define, build, and deliver projects that have direct technical, product, and business impact on Amazon. This role will give you an opportunity to work with many different teams and learn a range of new systems, leveraging the deep collection of technologies throughout the company and extending them to allow us to boldly go where no other company has gone before in the logistics industry. This is a great position for someone who can easily scale up and down their thinking architecturally to bring customer-centric solutions to market by intellectual leadership and influence on technology, product, and business teams. You will be leading a significant piece of Transportation technology and will work on some of the initiatives planned to support our rapid evolution and growth of the network and solve some of the most challenging problems. You will regularly interact with Senior Leadership across the company and will be overall responsible for driving the technology vision and roadmap for services owned. We are looking for Software Development Managers who are passionate about conceptualizing, building, and operating massively scalable systems. You will be leading some of the smartest engineering teams and will be responsible for driving best practices and continuous improvements in operational and engineering excellence. Basic Qualifications
7+ years of engineering experience 3+ years of engineering team management experience 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems Preferred Qualifications
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
