The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for a part-time, non-benefited Custodian located in the Boise office. This position typically works from approximately 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm Monday through Friday; however, days and hours may vary. This position is a non-classified part-time position. SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: This non-classified position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. Example of Duties Key Responsibilities: Cleaning/maintenance duties may include: Performs heavy-duty cleaning in office areas, common areas, kitchens, and lavatories; Cleans, sanitizes, and polishes bath, lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures; Dusts, washes, sponge mops; sanitizes, and shampoos furniture, woodwork, walls, windows, and glass items; Cleans shades and covers on light fixtures; removes waste and debris from areas; Selects products and compounds for cleaning jobs; measures and mixes compounds, disinfectants, and sanitizing agents and applies according to procedures or manufacturers' specifications; Moving and setting-up tables and chairs. Equipment operation/security duties may include: Operates heavy-duty scrubbing, shampooing, vacuuming, and wet/dry pickup equipment; Performs preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment; Finishes floors using strippers and final finishers; Replaces belts, brushes, and bearings in power equipment; Ensures that floor and building areas are secure. This work is heavy-duty commercial cleaning, not household type work. Most of your time will be spent in high-traffic areas that require heavy cleaning and related maintenance. This may include working in hazardous and/or unpleasant conditions. Minimum Qualifications These qualifications are mandatory requirements. Willingness to: Perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial-type cleaning equipment such as high-speed vacuum cleaners; Cleaning restrooms, bath facilities, locker rooms, swimming pools, and similar facilities; Moving heavy items such as tables, chairs, and bleachers; Repairing the equipment and related devices you operate.
