General Description The Human Resources (HR) Associate is responsible for the administrative functions of the HR department. This role involves maintaining the College's human resources policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Associate works collaboratively with the HR team to deliver services across various HR functions, including recruitment, compensation, employee benefits, organizational development, data administration, and training and development.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities Administrative Support: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records. Responsible for monitoring HR mailbox (
HRInfo@
); responding accordingly or directing to appropriate HR staff. Prepare and process HR-related documentation, such as employment contracts, offer letters, and benefits enrollment forms. Coordinate and schedule meetings, interviews, and training sessions. Answer phones, direct calls, and respond to general inquiries. Recruitment, Onboarding, and Separations: Assist in posting job openings. Support the coordination of interview schedules and communication with candidates. Assists with new hire onboarding, including orientation and documentation for FT, PT, Adjuncts and student workers. Process terminations for part-time employees, including adjuncts. Employee Benefits Administration: Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations. Maintain benefits records and liaise with providers as needed. Data Administration: Assists with the updating and maintaining of employee data records in the HR information system ( HRIS ) Generate and analyze HR reports as requested Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
Training and Development: Assist in organizing and coordinating training programs and workshops. Track employee participation and maintain training records. Policy Implementation: Assist in updating and maintaining employee handbooks and policy manuals. General Administrative Duties: Answer phones, direct calls, and respond to general inquiries. Support other administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth departmental operations. Other Responsibilities: Provide general support to the HR team in various projects and initiatives. Stay informed about relevant HR trends and best practices. Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field required.
Experience Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or HR-related role, preferred. Familiarity with HR systems and databases is an advantage. Experience in an educational or nonprofit organization is a plus.
Competencies and Skills Required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with HRIS and applicant tracking systems ( ATS ). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Physical Demands and Work Environment This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Some travel required.
Salary $50,000

Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Overtime may be required throughout the year, especially at peak times. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
