The University of Texas at Austin's Planning, Design and Construction team seeks an individual to serve as a Graphic Sign Technician in the Paint & Sign Shop. Selection made by committee and hiring supervisor based on review of online applications and results of personal interviews. Some evening, weekend, and holiday work required. Purpose

Provide journey-level fabrication and installation of interior and exterior signage and graphics that comprise the campus signage and directional wayfinding systems. Responsibilities

Fabricates and installs small, medium, and large format signs, graphics, and lettering for walls, doors, floors, windows, ceilings, vehicles, wayfinding, safety, informational, decorative, and ADA signs, using manually-operated and computer-directed tools, hardware, software, large format digital printer, vinyl cutter, cold laminator, and CnC router. Meets with clients and visits job sites to develop and document scope of work as needed. Takes field measurements and collects all pertinent information for work requests. Inspects completed work for internal and external quality control standards. Checks work for conformance with drawings, specifications, and compliance with UT and ADA standards, applicable codes, and regulations. Accomplishes basic shop paperwork and electronic documents, including records for materials used, daily labor reports, and weekly time reports. Maintains records and inventory of supplies and equipment. Drives UT vehicle to job sites and local suppliers, both on and off campus. Maintains tools and equipment used in sign making. Performs work in accordance with established safety procedures. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Uses graphic design software to design basic layouts as needed. Supports zone maintenance shops and other departments in repair of campus facilities, including after-hours response to campus emergencies. Practice and promote the values and goals of the university and the department. Drive UT vehicle to visit job sites and purchase materials and equipment. Attend management-directed meetings and training. Accomplish other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Three years of journey-level experience in sign production. Demonstrated ability in sign fabrication and installation of cut and printed viny . Demonstrated ability in sign fabrication and installation of signs on various substrates such as acrylic, PVC and aluminum. Experience operating large format printers and vinyl plotters. Commitment to and compliance with organizational values, goals, policies, and rules regarding customer service, job performance, and safety. Demonstrated ability to effectively work as a team member among trades personnel, clients, project managers, and other stakeholders. Before final offer can be made, successful applicant must provide a current driver's license and acceptable driving record for the most recent 36 months. Texas driving history will be confirmed online during selection process; applicant must provide out-of-state driving history. Five years or more of above experience. Associates degree or graduation from a technical or vocational trade school in graphic design, computer graphics, or related field. AIGA or equivalent certification. Working knowledge of Adobe CC Suite design software. Working knowledge of current ADA standards. Demonstrated ability to produce quality work from drawings, specifications, construction standards, and written/verbal instructions with or without direct supervision. Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing). Salary Range
