Job Description
This position is newly created within the Mechanical Design team at a manufacturing company, aimed at enhancing design checking and drafting processes. The detailer will review drawings to ensure accuracy in tolerances, measurements, and overall manufacturability. This role involves noting materials and proper use of tolerancing and may include drafting responsibilities such as adding dimensions and annotations.
Responsibilities
Review mechanical drawings and CAD models for dimensional accuracy, tolerancing, material specifications, and manufacturability.
Ensure compliance with internal standards and industry norms, identifying inconsistencies, missing information, and potential design issues.
Collaborate with designers to resolve discrepancies and improve documentation quality.
Maintain and update design checklists and standards documentation.
Manage data flow through the ERP system, processing documents and drawings from customer orders.
Perform frequent data entry tasks.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in design, mechanical design, detailing, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
Experience with GD&T tolerancing.
Knowledge of machine tooling and fixtures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience in a design checking, detailing, or drafting position.
Exposure to SolidWorks or AutoCAD is a major plus.
Work Environment
This role is based in an office environment, working alongside 4-5 mechanical design engineers. You will have access to the manufacturing floor to observe products in process and production. The position offers a long-term opportunity for growth and potential conversion to a direct employee.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brighton, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
