Job Summary
Langan is seeking a
Senior Project Hydrogeologist
to join its collaborative team in
San Francisco, CA ,
Portland, OR , or
Seattle, WA . This role focuses on managing hydrogeologic projects and clients across the country, with an emphasis on the West Coast. The candidate will analyze subsurface data, perform hydrogeologic studies, develop conceptual site models, create numerical groundwater models, design and analyze aquifer tests, conduct water resources evaluations, and evaluate groundwater remediation alternatives. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team on landmark land development projects and participate in lifelong learning and career progression.
Responsibilities
Participate in identification and pursuit of new clients, develop additional work within existing projects, and attend business development meetings with clients.
Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for project assignments; coach, train, and motivate staff; participate in interviewing and hiring.
Supervise project managers coordinating field activities; ensure correct interpretations of findings and timely, budget-compliant data collection and analyses.
Manage and deliver multiple projects within budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
Manage environmental investigation and remediation projects with hydrogeologic focus.
Perform complex hydrogeological analyses for portions of broader projects.
Develop and use computational groundwater models to evaluate groundwater flow and contaminant fate/transport (e.g., using GMS).
Coordinate and manage staff in collecting soil, soil vapor, indoor and ambient air, sediment, surface water, and groundwater samples; log lithology and install wells as needed.
Develop task and project budgets and schedules; prepare progress reports and review project billings.
Interface effectively with clients, regulators, contractors, subcontractors, staff, and project personnel.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
Professional licensure required.
10 to 15+ years of related work experience.
In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
Proficiency in environmental due diligence and quantitative/technical analyses; ability to perform complex analyses.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and excellent written, verbal, and public-speaking skills.
Strong attention to detail, analytical and judgment capabilities; ability to work independently and in a team.
Ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects and clients, develop/manage budgets, and coach staff.
Reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits; valid driver’s license in good standing.
Compensation and Benefits The estimated salary range for this role is
$112,500 - $171,000 . Actual compensation may vary based on experience, location, market conditions, and credentials. The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; disability insurance; 401(k)/Roth with company match; paid time off; and professional/educational reimbursement. Bonuses are discretionary and based on performance and firm profitability. Eligible employees may receive up to 20 days of paid vacation, 10 days of paid sick leave, and 10 paid holidays per year, subject to local law and qualification.
