Job Summary
The
Quality Control Inspector
is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, quality, and compliance of fabricated materials, including structural and miscellaneous steel. This role will focus on inspection of fit-up, dimensions, and weld quality. The ideal candidate will hold a
CWI certification
and bring hands-on experience in structural steel inspection, though training will be provided for the right motivated candidate.
Responsibilities Perform inspections of structural and miscellaneous steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Verify dimensions, fit-up, and weld quality to meet project and code requirements. Work with safety and quality as top priorities on all projects. Use measurement tools such as tape measures, squares, angle finders, go/no-go gauges, and fillet weld gages. Interpret weld symbols and drawings, including layout verification for fabrication functions (copes, bevels, holes, pitch, etc.). pply basic knowledge of welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, FCAW). Set up welding machines properly per specified welding procedures. ssist in troubleshooting weld defects and common welding machine issues. Stand, walk, crouch, bend, and crawl as needed for inspections; lift up to 75 pounds unassisted. Preferred Qualifications
WS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
certification (required). Knowledge of visual inspections (VT), magnetic particle inspection (MT), and codes such as AISC, AWS, AASHTO, AREMA, and RCSC. Experience working with tablets and basic computer systems for documentation. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with willingness to learn new processes.
