Sr. Quality Control Inspector
DEPARTMENT: RA/QA
REPORTS TO: Quality Control Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Nonexempt
Pay: $27.00-$30.00/hr.
The Sr. Quality Control Inspector plays a key role in supporting quality initiatives and is responsible for inspecting incoming materials and in-process manufacturing components. This position also assists with audits, data review, and documentation analysis.
Key Responsibilities * Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of raw materials, components, finished assemblies, and items during the manufacturing process. * Inspect plastic and metal parts, mechanical instruments, circuit boards, electro-mechanical assemblies, labels, and packaging materials. * Accurately document inspection findings in a clear and complete manner. * Create and distribute non-conformance reports (NCMRs) for any defects discovered during inspections. * Handle material dispositions and record transactions in the ERP system. * Review Device History Records (DHRs) to support product release decisions. * Evaluate supplier test results and First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation. * Perform First Article inspections when required. * Collaborate with RA/QA on defect trends, inspection techniques, and specification compliance. * Stay current with procedures and updates to specifications relevant to your responsibilities. * Support the calibration program, including inspection of equipment or fixtures as needed. * Provide mentorship and hands-on guidance to new or junior team members. * Assist with advanced inspection requests and contribute to the development of quality documentation.
Qualifications and Skills * Prior inspection experience in medical devices or similarly regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, or other high-precision, fast-paced environments). * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Strong written and verbal communication abilities. * Results-driven, with a focus on follow-through and meeting deadlines. * Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and work independently when required. * Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. * Flexible and highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities. * Applies sound judgment in decision-making and peer/management communications. * Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gage blocks, microscopes, and similar inspection tools. * Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings and ANSI-Y-14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing. * Experience with ERP/MRP systems, particularly for material handling transactions. * Self-motivated, with strong time management skills. * Preferred: experience inspecting medical devices and working with tight tolerances.
