Overview
Leidos [Defense Systems] has an opening for a Senior Maritime Systems Solution Architect. As Leidos focuses on the development of transformational maritime warfighting capabilities, it is critical to identify, develop, and transition discriminating technologies and capabilities within the enterprise. The preference is for this position to be based out of Reston, VA, Arlington, VA, or San Diego, CA. Primary Responsibilities
The Advanced Maritime Systems Solution Architect will identify and drive the development and application of innovative solutions for the maritime business area, particularly leveraging customer funded R&D from organizations such as ONR, NAVSEA, NRL, and DARPA. Establish and maintain relationships with customers such as NAVSEA, ONR, NRL, USSOCOM, and OSD to convey how Leidos emerging technologies will enable next-generation warfighting capabilities. Support development and refinement of Leidos business strategy to align with customer priorities. Oversee the capture and shaping strategy for critical maritime programs and assist other pursuits as appropriate. Oversee and collaborate on creation of ideas for new seedlings and programs with ONR, NRL, and DARPA. Grow and maintain relationships with strategic sources and partners, universities, and research institutions to increase learning and teaming opportunities, sponsor research projects that advance Leidos solutions, and, where possible, showcase novel Leidos technologies and solutions internally and externally. Basic Qualifications
Masters degree and 15+ years of experience or PhD and 13+ years of experience. Degrees in engineering or scientific disciplines with expertise in areas such as signal processing, simulation, platforms, phenomenology, and sensors. Work experience relating to science, technology, research, and experience developing capabilities, products, and technology with military or intelligence utility. Must have a Secret security clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance. Prior technical roles within contractor or government R&D organizations with increasing duties and responsibilities and experience with S&T / R&D customers such as ONR, AFRL, DARPA, and IARPA. Knowledge of government business models and interrelationships between US Navy S&T/R&D and the intelligence community. Experience capturing/executing R&D programs as a principal investigator or program manager for one of the government S&T/R&D customers. Experience in technology areas including: satellite systems, electronic warfare, ELINT/SIGINT collection and processing, ground sensors, advanced radar systems, airborne/spaceborne IR sensors, hypersonic weapons, survivability, CBRN sensing, ATR, multi-/hyper-spectral EO systems, AI/ML, data analytics, autonomous systems, HEL/HPM directed energy systems, advanced computing technology, guidance and control, communications systems, software engineering, field tests, hydrodynamics and maritime systems, and sonar systems. Experience assessing, quantifying, and mitigating risk in project development and execution. Experience with technology and business strategy formation, performance management, and Defense industry best practices. Experience developing technology/strategy/investment roadmaps. Experience overseeing IRaD programs and portfolios. Program management experience with large programs. Strong oral and written communication skills including public speaking. Ability to influence and persuade, and handle difficult negotiations requiring strategic thinking. Ability to mentor, lead, grow and promote technical talent. Experience supporting capture activities including chairing/participating in Gate Reviews, writing proposal sections, and providing technical guidance for solution development. Approximately 25% travel is required. 25% remote telework is acceptable. Qualifications
Experience evaluating technical proposals. Top Secret security clearance or higher. PMP certification.
