Job Title: EstimatorJob Description
We are seeking a skilled commercial estimating professional with expertise in the mechanical industries. The ideal candidate will assemble accurate estimates and detailed proposals for customers with minimal oversight. This position is based at our satellite office in Apex, NC.
Responsibilities
Accurately identify, quantify, and record piping and equipment associated with various mechanical systems.
Review all bid documents and seek clarifications during the bid process to ensure an accurate bid is assembled.
Engage in budgeting, unit pricing, pipe sizing, general code compliance, and understanding of general layout of Plumbing, Piping, and HVAC Duct Systems.
Concurrently bid and manage multiple projects, creating detailed estimates with appropriate material, labor, and subcontractor selections.
Survey potential projects and identify the best solutions for pricing.
Evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure compliance with job requirements and specifications.
Estimate HVAC and plumbing projects and change orders to comply with corporate profit guidelines and project requirements.
Provide conceptual design and pricing to support conceptual design for both HVAC and plumbing.
Complete system take-offs in accordance with current B&K processes.
Consider and evaluate potential value engineering options and costs with the B&K team.
Develop project general conditions, estimate scope summaries, schedules, and other necessary tools and deliverables.
Participate in bid finalization and review when necessary.
Handle internal and external communication responsibilities with appropriate contacts.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in pipe takeoff software.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Consistent dependability and availability.
Ability to work in a fast-paced construction office environment.
Ability to organize and curate documents related to work orders and personnel.
Aptitude for learning new systems.
Mechanical knowledge.
Project management skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
BSME in Engineering/HVAC or Construction Business Management is preferred.
Experience in communication, relationship building, and customer service.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and the ability to assemble a detailed quote.
Ability to work in an open/team environment and independently.
Strong multi-tasking, organization, and prioritization skills.
Experience in Life Science/Pharma projects is required.
Work Environment
The role is based in the Apex office. You will work in an open/team environment and must be capable of working independently. The work environment is fast-paced and requires consistent dependability and availability.

This is a Contract position based out of Apex, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.89 - $81.75/hr.
