First Financial Bank has an immediate opening for an

Appraisal Specialist

at the Corporate Office located in El Dorado, Arkansas.

The primary responsibility of this position is developing, implementing and administering all aspects of the Bank's independent Rest Estate Appraisal and Evaluation Program. This position must ensure that all appraisals and evaluations are in compliance with all related laws, rules, and regulations. Position must remain independent from the loan process.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Education should include appraisal "qualifying" education of at least 75 hours or appraisal and/or banking experience equivalent to two years. Qualifying education includes classes that are designed to qualify an applicant for obtaining an appraisal license or to qualify for state registration. State registration is not required. To keep appraisal skills current, this person should have continuing education annually.

COMPLEXITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Should have a working knowledge of cap rates and how to derive a value of a cash stream.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyzes appraisal to ascertain appraisal is correct and acceptable and to ensure valuation is within typical market ranges, primarily for more complex appraisals. Schedules and process estimates of appraisals and ensures that the appraiser has completed all necessary licensure requirements and is in good standing with the Appraisal Subcommittee. Works with appraisers to correct appraisal deficiencies or to obtain justification for anomaly. Acts as a mediator for differences in opinion between the Bank and the appraiser. Serves as a resource for Bank employees to help them understand the appraisal report. Obtain and analyze data for regulatory compliance review of banking area. Other duties as assigned by management.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Computer experience required with working knowledge of Excel, Word, etc. and the HP financial calculator.
