The Kodiak Island Borough School District is seeking the following for the

2025-2026 school year:

8 hrs/day, 5 days/week (Night), 12 months Salary:

Entry Range 11.5, Step 1: $18.56 per hour

Custodian I Night Position Summary: The Custodian I, under the general supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, performs all phases of housekeeping in the school system necessary to protect and prolong the life and use of the buildings and provide for the comfort, safety, and health of students, faculty, and public when on the school premises.

Qualifications:

Able to follow written and oral instructions in the use of cleaning chemicals. Able to use a variety of cleaning equipment such as electric buffers, floor scrubbers, wet and dry vacuums, shampoo machines, and lawn care equipment. Able to work alone or as part of a custodial team. Willing to work varying shift assignments. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license with no insurance restrictions. Ability to work well with public, students, staff, and parents. Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information. Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities:

Sweep, mop, strip and wax floors, vacuum all rugs. Keep all parts of the building clean and in order, such as windows, walls; cleans chalkboards and whiteboards, etc., and other unique building needs. Clean, disinfect rest rooms and replenish all required supplies. Remove all trash, litter and waste paper from building. Keep walks and entranceways free from dirt and trash. Remove or report any conditions that are or could become safety, health or fire hazards. Paint and make minor repairs to buildings and grounds, including landscaping. Attend classroom instruction for additional training when requested by school administration. Responsible for the security and safekeeping of assigned building areas and equipment as directed. Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business materials and information. Other duties as assigned from time to time.
