Job Description Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Claims Specialist in Inland Marine who is ready to take on complex challenges. You will work within our collaborative environment from any of our Argo offices: Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or San Antonio. Our team comes together five days a week to foster culture, strengthen connections, and drive profitability.
Your Impact
Adjudicate intricate inland marine claims, requiring minimal oversight, within broad management guidelines.
Conduct thorough investigations and analyses to resolve multifaceted issues effectively.
Support quality assurance efforts over TPAs managing US program claims.
Provide senior management with insights on claims trends and developments.
Implement prompt and comprehensive investigations, including interviewing involved parties.
Oversee claims in litigation and ensure timely resolution for best financial outcomes.
Set claim reserves accurately, understanding the influence of policy wording on reserving processes.
Utilize creative problem-solving skills to achieve optimal financial results in claims negotiations.
Engage in proactive communication with clients and stakeholders through calls and written correspondence.
Qualifications We Seek
Extensive knowledge in commercial Inland Marine claims, with at least seven years’ experience handling claims of $100,000 or more.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with the potential to substitute field experience for degree requirements. Insurance designations are a plus.
Possession of a New York General Adjusting License or a reciprocal Texas and California license, or willingness to obtain within three months.
Proven experience with specialty programs and collaborations with TPAs, MGAs, or external vendors.
Strong business acumen with a focus on how claims impact overall profitability.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships.
Capacity to thrive in dynamic environments, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness.
Proficient in MS Office Suite and related business software, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position varies by location:
Chicago: $148,100 - $177,700
Los Angeles and New York City: $161,800 - $194,200
