Gresham Smith is seeking a
Market Analyst
to join our Industrial Market team. This role is a proactive, strategic partner to the Market Vice President (MVP) and Executive Vice President (EVP), providing critical financial, operational, and market insights to drive performance and support decision-making.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with the ability to manage both day-to-day project financials and big-picture market strategy. Depending on market needs, the position may also include Assistant Project Manager (APM) functions.
What You’ll Do
Deliver
monthly and year-to-date performance reports , including analysis of market and project trends. Provide
Month-over-Month and Year-over-Year analytics
to support executive decision-making. Support
contract reviews, project status tracking, and subconsultant coordination . Support
billing processes : deferred/accrued revenue, unbilled revenue, accounts receivable, and monthly close meetings Conduct
workload capacity analysis , guiding staffing mix and resourcing decisions. Participate in
project performance meetings , analyzing planned vs. actual performance, earned value, and profitability. Lead
revenue projections analysis
and provide variance analysis against prior forecasts. Partner with PMs and APMs to ensure timely invoicing, contract accuracy, and compliance. Support
strategic market initiatives , including growth planning, budgeting, and annual business planning. Serve as a
Vantagepoint super-user , training staff and maintaining project performance trackers. Collaborate with other Market Analysts and Accounting to share best practices and improve firmwide processes. What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; Master’s preferred. 8-10+ years of experience in financial analysis, project controls, or market analytics (A&E or professional services industry preferred). Strong understanding of
project financials, contracts, and performance metrics . Proficiency with
Deltek Vantagepoint, or similar ERP/financial systems . Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to interact confidently with executives and provide leadership and insight to the project management team. Preferred Skills
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex modeling. Experience with
business intelligence tools
(e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for dashboarding and data visualization. Knowledge of
A&E industry financial models
(multiples, earned value, utilization, etc.). Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset. Proven ability to train, mentor, or support colleagues in financial systems and processes.
