The Information Technology Services (ITS) Banner ERP and Database Administration team within the Enterprise Applications organization consists of highly skilled DBA professionals responsible for architecture, administration, integration, automation and oversight of key University data systems, including Banner ERP and its components (such as ODS, Banner 9 Admin Pages or Workflow), along with other related or integrated systems such as Degree Works, Ellucian Workflow and Ellucian Ethos platform configuration. Position Summary
This position reports to the Manager of Core ERP Services and serves as a Senior ERP/Database Administrator in support of UNCGs Enterprise database platforms. This position is responsible for delivering high performance, high availability, and high stability ERP systems and other database infrastructure to our clients by troubleshooting, tuning and configuring UNCGs ERP/Database technology stack including Weblogic server, Tomcat application server, Linux operating system, Oracle database server, and MS-SQL. Specifically, the Senior ERP/Database Specifically is responsible for: Database and application installation, configuration and maintenance according to established best practices. Develop and implement data security and backup, recovery strategies, and database cloning. Off-Site Disaster Recovery infrastructure and performing test practices to ensure Business Continuity. Implement information. Automation scripting for common and complex repeatable tasks across supported technology stack. Proactive monitoring of database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement tuning strategies to optimize performance. Process release management change requests. Maintain Enterprise data systems security, adhere to database security best practices, including implementing Quarterly Oracle Critical Patch Updates. Provide mentoring for junior DBAs and guidance on best practices for database management and optimization. Provide technical assistance to development staff. Provide technical resource expertise for detailed planning information to project managers and other technical resources to assist in planning of requests. Publish, improve and maintain technical and non-technical documentation along with processes and procedures. Engage in continuous learning and adoption of new concerts, technologies and problem-solving techniques. Participate in after hours on-call process. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Day-to-day support and database administration of UNCGs Oracle and MS-SQL database services. Requires technical skills of an Oracle cloud database architect to lead the planning, implementation and maintenance of enterprise services. Serves as lead architect in providing cloud database monitoring and performance tuning software required for business continuity of the Universitys digital assets. Work with ITS Release Management within the ITS Office of Planning and Execution to ensure proper scheduling and communications of implementations, updates, patching, and other maintenance.
