Position Summary
The Licensing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring Empower's regulatory compliance by managing customer and facility licensing across state and federal jurisdictions. This role oversees license applications, renewals, and documentation while coordinating with internal teams to maintain accurate, audit-ready records. By supporting compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and compounding standards under 503A and 503B, the Licensing Specialist helps uphold Empower's mission to deliver safe, affordable, and innovative medication to 300 million people living healthier, happier lives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and implements procedures for customer account approval and facility license management, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and Empower Pharmacy's standards. Reviews customer documentation for service eligibility and verifies facility compliance with FDA, DEA, 503A, and 503B requirements. Acts as the liaison between Empower Pharmacy and external licensing firms, managing the submission of new applications and the renewal of existing licenses, ensuring accuracy and effective communication. Verifies and updates the licensure status of providers and facilities, maintaining communication channels to gather and update licensing information. Maintains organized and compliant records of provider and facility licensure, and collaborates with internal teams, including Quality Assurance, Operations, and Legal, to ensure smooth and compliant processes. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. A solid understanding of state and federal licensing regulations, with a keen attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Minimum of 3 years of experience in licensing or compliance, preferably in the healthcare industry. Bachelor's degree preferred. Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.
