We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented

Industrial Design Engineer

to join our Shop-Vac USA team. This role blends product design with engineering problem-solving to deliver innovative, durable, and user-friendly products. The Industrial Design Engineer will focus on creating designs that balance form, function, and manufacturability, ensuring Shop-Vac continues to lead in the wet/dry vacuum category.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design new Shop-Vac products and accessories with a focus on user experience, ergonomics, and visual appeal. Create detailed CAD models, 3D renderings, and technical drawings. Develop prototypes and collaborate in testing to validate performance, durability, and safety. Work with R&D, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-effective. Translate customer needs and market research into innovative design solutions. Benchmark competitors and track industry trends to guide product styling and innovation. Integrate engineering constraints and material choices into product design for efficiency and reliability. Support continuous improvement by redesigning or refreshing existing products. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering, product design engineering, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in industrial design, consumer product development, or engineering design role. Strong proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Creo, Rhino, or equivalent). Hands-on experience with prototyping, rendering, and product visualization. Knowledge of plastics (injection/blow molding), sheet metal, and mass-production processes. Strong creative portfolio showcasing product design work. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to merge design vision and engineering feasibility. Familiarity with DFMA (Design for Manufacture & Assembly) and lean product development practices preferred.
