Medical Assistant
We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support the practice on-site Monday through Friday (8:45am-5:15pm). Responsibilities include: Coordinates pre-visit preparations including addressing the special needs of patients (i.e. comfort measures, communication, and other appropriate issues), ensuring relevant labs and tests are scheduled and completed prior to office visit, organization of paper chart, etc. Escorts patients to the exam rooms and take vital signs. Performs a variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice, including but not limited to: injections and EKG's. Obtains blood specimens in accordance with established procedures, while maintaining a professional, patient-sensitive atmosphere. Provides assistance to providers with office procedures. Prepares requisitions and submits specimens to the laboratory. Sends in electronic prescriptions for patients that have been instructed by providers. Communicates with patients regarding laboratory, imaging results and prescription instructions per practice protocol. Cleans and restocks exam rooms. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of any and all patient records including but not limited to treatment, diagnosis, history, medication, and financial status. Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred. Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred. Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position. Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments. Accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Managing one's own time and the time of others. Preferred: At least 3 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant. Experience giving vaccines. Certification strongly preferred- via AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT.
