Overview

The Peltier Research Group in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University is searching for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our multidisciplinary team. Our group integrates organic, inorganic, and materials chemistry to tackle challenges in catalysis, energy, and sustainability. One of the major interests of our group is in developing functional materials for applications focused on gas storage and molecular separations, which have the potential to significantly advance global sustainability goals. This postdoctoral position explores the design, synthesis, characterization, and gas sorption studies for new types of porous materials that will lead to high-working capacities. The appointment is for 12 months with the potential for an additional 12-24 months depending upon performance. Other projects that align with our group's general interest are possible. See our website for more details: https://peltierlab.sites.northeastern.edu/. Required Qualifications

Applicants must be highly motivated and have a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field by the time of starting this position. Significant background in chemical synthesis and characterization techniques (e.g., NMR, IR, and X-ray Diffraction). Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a multidisciplinary environment. Strong organizational, record-keeping, and verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the manipulation of air-sensitive chemicals including Schlenk line and glovebox techniques. Experience with the synthesis and characterization of porous materials including solvothermal methods, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, gas adsorption analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and breakthrough analysis. Key Responsibilities

Contribute to design and execution of experiments related to gas sorption studies and porous materials. Interpret experimental results and contribute to project management and planning. Prepare scientific manuscripts and present progress in meetings and conferences. Collaborate with team members, assist in the preparation of grants, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students as applicable. How to Apply

Applicants should submit the following: 1) a cover letter briefly describing your research experience and interests, 2) a curriculum vitae with a full list of publications, and 3) a list with the contact information for at least three professional references who can evaluate your scientific accomplishments and future potential. Review of applications will be on a rolling basis and the position will remain open until filled. Questions about the position or how to apply can be directed to Prof. Peltier: j.peltier@northeastern.edu Position Type
