. Position Summary: FusionICS is seeking a motivated
Civil Engineer
to support classified and mission-critical construction projects for federal clients in the National Capital Region. The selected candidate will develop civil engineering plans and specifications, manage site-related technical issues, and oversee construction activities with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, security, and constructability. This position is critical to ensuring proper design and execution of grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and site layout elements for secure infrastructure and facilities. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review site civil drawings, grading plans, erosion/sediment control plans, and utility layouts. Coordinate with local authorities and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Provide field engineering support and construction phase oversight on secure projects. Review contractor submittals and RFIs for civil-related scopes. Perform site investigations, surveys, and as-built verifications. Support stormwater management design and compliance (SWPPP, MS4, etc.). Ensure compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), AT/FP standards, and relevant design codes. Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and agency coordination sessions. Maintain clear documentation in support of federal closeout and turnover packages.
Qualifications & Requirements: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering design and construction experience.
Experience with
DoD construction projects, military facilities, or government contracting
preferred. Certifications & Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and other civil design software. Working knowledge of drainage design, utility coordination, grading, and erosion control measures. Understanding of DoD design criteria and secure facility requirements. Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills .
Ability to work safely on active construction sites and wear required PPE.
Preferred Qualifications: PE (Professional Engineer) license or EIT with licensure track record. Experience with SCIF/SAPF or anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP) design standards. Familiarity with geotechnical analysis, soil stabilization, and pavement design. Background in secure campus development, airfield/heavy civil, or embassy-level infrastructure. LEED, CPESC, or related sustainability/environmental credentials a plus.
Security Clearance Requirement: Active Top Secret (TS) clearance required . Must be able to
obtain and maintain clearance at the necessary level for assigned duties . Salary & Benefits: Compensation: Base Salary:
