Job Description And Duties

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is looking for a dynamic and experienced Labor Relations Specialist to join our team. Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of California’s labor relations framework, including collective bargaining, and hands-on experience investigating and resolving grievances.

Under the general direction of the Labor Relations Manager I/Labor Relations Officer (LRO), Human Resources Management Division, the Labor Relations Specialist (LRS) serves as a non-supervisory subject matter expert to process the necessary tasks of the Department’s Labor Relations Unit. The LRS independently performs increasingly complex and challenging Labor Relations functions, promoting and facilitating a cooperative relationship between the California Department of Insurance (CDI) management, its employees, and their employee labor organizations.
This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
