The Tissue Recovery Coordinator responds to tissue recovery cases and provides technical support for all aspects of tissue recovery for transplant and research. The coordinator leads intraoperative tissue recovery, communicates with hospital personnel, funeral home staff, and medical examiners, and performs clinical support duties during scheduled shifts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Arrive on time, prepared, with a sense of urgency for clinical events and recovery needs. Review donor authorization, identify donors and tissues, and review medical history thoroughly. Assemble supplies, manage inventory, and maintain the recovery suite. Collect specimens, perform surgical tissue recovery, and reconstruct donor post-procedure. Package, label, and ship tissues and samples promptly. Coordinate with team members, demonstrate attention to detail, and communicate effectively. Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, disease processes, and regulations. Train staff on recovery techniques and read and understand patient charts. Meet realistic goals, maintain professionalism, and handle stressful situations ethically. Support other donation activities as needed, including tissue recovery of musculoskeletal and ocular tissues. Additional Duties for Full TRC I
May act as surgical first assistant or scrub for organ recoveries. Lead team coordination and obtain required continuing education credits. Qualifications
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to operate medical and surgical equipment and handle emotionally intense situations. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel. Work a minimum of 12-hour shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays. Maintain confidentiality and meet performance metrics. Education and Experience
Associate degree in relevant fields or surgical technology; 2 years related experience may substitute. Certifications like CTBS, CEBT, or CST are preferred. Salary: $28.71 - $31.90 per hour. Additional Information
