Overview The Salvation Army’s

Salem/North Shore Corps . is hiring an

Office Assistant

and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

Location : Salem/North Shore, MA

Pay Range : $15 - $16 per hour

25 hours per week

Assist with the daily corps functions, included but not limited to, filing, copying, answering and directing phone calls, great and direct visitors/clients and drafting letters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma

Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience working for a non-profit, preferred

Requirements include:

Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or occasional continuous basis.

Grasp, push, pull objects such as reference materials, files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.

Ability to load and to change settings, devices, fixtures, on various equipment used in and around an office environment

Operate telephone and other electronic communication devices.

Operate various other office equipment including personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and scanning equipment.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.

Ability to travel throughout the Division via car, train, or airplane.

Ability to be creative, original, intuitive, and perceptive.

Ability to think logically and critically.

Ability to envision a project from beginning to end.

Ability to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide statistics to Corps Officer and/or Social Ministries Program Manager

Assist and interact with visitors/clients

Assist with annual holiday preparations and distribution

Follow-up with clients to measure results of our programs and to continue to offer assistance.

Answer, direct, and take phone messages

Perform all filing within the office

Assist Corps Officers in keeping records up to date

Assist with sending receipts to donors

Assist with organizing Advisory Board meeting

Assist with setting up for lunch meetings

Assemble food bags for clients

Stock and arrange food donations and separate can goods

Arrange for pick-up of donated food items

Assist Corps Officers with some general work in bookkeepers’ office (cancelled checks)

Assist with all aspects of Thanksgiving and Christmas intake and distribution

Assist with Angel Tree requests

Assist with coordinator sorting clothing and toys

Reach out to local stores to request permission for TSA to set kettle stands

Assist with League of Mercy done on 3 separate Sundays during the Christmas season

Perform other related duties as requested.

Other Requirements:

Knowledge of Microsoft software – Excel, PowerPoint, Word

Must be able to type quickly and with accuracy

Must have great organizational skills

Must be able to relate to people of all cultural backgrounds

Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English

Must be fluent in Spanish

Must be professional and courteous
