Position Summary
As an Energy Advisor I, you will play a crucial role in delivering essential services to homeowners, landlords, building owners, and other utility customers. You will provide expert guidance and coordination for energy programs, recommending specific modifications to electric and gas systems. Your ability to communicate the advantages of our programs will be key in convincing prospective clients of the efficiency improvements they can expect. This position involves a combination of fieldwork and office responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the direct installation of energy-saving products as instructed by program management.
Ensure compliance with safety requirements set by the organization and utility clients.
Promote energy efficiency programs to customers, trade allies, and stakeholders in your designated territory.
Implement the company's sales strategy, including:
Making outbound calls to existing customers to fulfill assigned energy-saving targets.
Generating new business with prospective clients through business-to-business outreach.
Effectively managing field visits with customers, Trade Allies, and program stakeholders.
Developing and delivering presentations to raise awareness of our programs.
Addressing customer inquiries and concerns through phone, electronic communication, or in-person meetings to advance projects.
Collaborate with utility customers to enhance energy efficiency and their business activities.
Identify on-site energy savings opportunities and provide documentation and summary reports for clients and program management, including follow-up as necessary.
Discuss technical aspects of energy-consuming equipment such as lighting, HVAC systems, insulation, and air sealing.
Input project data into spreadsheets and databases for tracking energy savings, collaborating with Energy Engineers when required.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct that reflects positively on our organization and the utility.
Build rapport with customers and engage them in discussions regarding energy usage effectively.
Work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to continuous operational improvements.
Support program management in the training of new team members.
Lead presentations on energy efficiency programs for target groups.
Assist customers with the rebate application process.
Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience. Technical school credentials combined with relevant experience in the electric or gas utility field will also be considered.
1-2 years of experience in the electric or natural gas utility industry, facilities management, HVAC design, sales, conservation, or energy management.
Preferred experience in energy efficiency and/or energy modeling.
Previous background in customer service, sales, or marketing is advantageous.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong data entry capabilities and experience with tracking systems/databases.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with customers, clients, and team members.
Ability to analyze data, interpret results, and solve practical problems.
Familiarity with fundamental mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.

Valid driver's license required.
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
