Our client is seeking a Geologist to work in Midland, TX for an initial 1-year contract (with possibility of extension) and benefits.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Production Geologist in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Texas Midland Basin Business Unit based in Midland, Texas.
The positions primary responsibilities include:
Well Planning & Permitting
Develops GeoProgs with:
Target interval justification and pay selection
Mineralogy (Quartz, TOC, clay typing)
Surface-to-target trajectory and shallow hazard mapping
SNDR/GYBG flow depth and charge assessments
Clearfork water sensitivity alerts (clay stabilizer needs)
Collaborates with:
SSC and Drilling on trajectory feasibility
Land and Regulatory for permits and hazard avoidance
Applies facies analysis and RMD for target and window selection
Provides geosteering support and real-time drilling input
DSU Design & Development Strategy
Supports DSU design with geologic inputs on:
Bench targeting, landing strategy, and stacking
Intra-unit structure and reservoir variability
Parent/child risk and depletion impact
SWD Planning & Permitting
Identifies SWD zones with containment integrity
Prepares W-14 support documents (logs, maps, fault analysis)
Supports AOR and permitting coordination with Water Strategy and Regulatory
Drilling Execution Support
Provides structural interpretation and geosteering input during drilling
Flags geologic deviations and recommends adjustments
Integrates MWD/LWD data for trajectory optimization
Post-Drill Analysis & Optimization
Performs lookbacks to improve planning and targeting
Evaluates wellbore placement accuracy
Supports recompletion planning and production enhancement
Identifies faulting or mechanical risk features for Completions
Collaborates on alternative completion technique evaluation
OBO & Inventory Growth
Participates in technical reviews for trades and OBO assessments
Develops geologic summaries for BD
Works with SSC and petrophysics to de-risk undeveloped inventory
