We are currently looking for a passionate Lead Data Governance/Data Quality Engineer, someone with a minimum of 10 years of experience in implementing Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks. You will play a key role in shaping data products that meet the needs of our enterprise and significantly enhance our business performance.

What You Will Do - Essential Responsibilities:
Industry Best Practices:
Keep up with the latest trends in Data Governance and Quality, innovating best practices for CarMax. Subject Matter Expert:
Act as a Data Governance/Data Quality expert for functional teams, customizing best practices for organizational needs. Data Architecture and Modeling:
Have a foundational understanding of Data Architecture and Data Modeling, with a willingness to learn. Technology Assessment:
Collaborate with business and tech teams to evaluate future Data Governance/Metadata tools. Enterprise Implementation:
Work with various teams to implement Data Quality rules, roles, and support the overall governance model. Team Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with technical and functional teams to integrate and resolve data quality and metadata issues. Technology:
Set up and manage cloud-based Data Quality tools, proactively overseeing future Data Governance technologies. Cost Management:
Partner with DataOps to monitor and optimize cloud costs related to Data Governance and Quality tools. Continuous Improvement:
Maintain a focus on automation and adaptability to evolving business needs. Stakeholder Communication:
Effectively engage with stakeholders to foster strong partnerships across CarMax. Adaptability:
Be ready to multi-task and swiftly familiarize yourself with CarMax's processes and data opportunities. Data Analysis:
Write SQL queries for data analysis and to support Data Quality issue resolution. Documentation:
Document data lineage, business contexts, and technical workflows efficiently. Qualifications and Requirements: 10+ years experience in Data Quality and/or Data Governance roles. Proven teamwork skills across various organizational functions. Hands-on experience with SQL; Snowflake experience is highly preferred. Proficient in Data Governance/Data Quality/Metadata/Catalog tools like DQLabs, Atlan, Alation, and Collibra. Strong knowledge of Data Governance and Data Quality processes. Excellent communication and presentation skills with senior partners. Awareness of current trends in governance, metadata management, and data quality. Experience in operationalizing Data Quality processes and defining roles. Self-motivated leader with strong communication abilities. Bachelor's or Master’s in computer science or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Snowflake-based data governance or quality implementations. Familiarity with cost management of data tools in cloud environments (e.g., Azure, Snowflake). Certification in data governance or quality (e.g., DAMA CDMP). Leadership in transformative DG/DQ initiatives, including AI-based improvements. Prior experience in the retail industry. This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA Technology Innovation Center at 2220 W. Broad Street or Dallas Technology Hub in Plano, TX, offering a Hybrid work arrangement.
