JOB SUMMARY
The parts Counter Associate sells, at retail, parts to all available customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone.
We have two shifts available for this position: Wednesday - Saturday 5:00 pm - 3;30 am and Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Wait on customers or mechanics at parts counter or on phone.
2. Research customers' requests and needs where necessary and determine correct part(s) needed.
3. If part(s) is in stock produce invoice from computer system. If not in stock and customer wants to order, give information to purchasing clerk for order processing.
4. Restock shelves and maintain bins, i.e., rearranging parts, clearing, labeling, etc.
5. Assist with annual parts inventory physical count, to include actual physical counting of parts, tallying of counts, etc.
6. Assist Parts Manager with miscellaneous tasks.
7. Keep up on training.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Two (2) years heavy duty truck parts experience.
Mechanical aptitude desirable.
Valid driver's license.
Minimal computer aptitude desirable.
Maintain a professional personal appearance.
Excellent, friendly communication and organization skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves both sedentary and other work. For part of the shift, employee will work at a counter doing paperwork, telephoning, filing and ten-key. For part of the shift, employee will stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach, moving about the dealership facility to communicate with managers, employees and customers. Lifting of at least 50 lbs without assistance on a daily basis, as well as heavier loads with forklifts and/or additional assistance will be required. Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and a variety of other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
