Electrician
in the
Facilities Administration - Hyde Park.
In this role, the
Electrician
maintains and repairs all types of electrical wiring and equipment used in the Medical Center.

In the absence of immediate supervisor, has the ability to assume leadership role to continue the hospital standards of care
Establishes priorities in the completion of assigned tasks
Inspects equipment in Operational Section and assesses the need for maintenance
Performs all duties of the respective journeyman classification, as well as assuming a leadership role to continue Hospital Standards of care
Maintains, tests or repairs all types of electrical installations and equipment used in the Medical Center complex. Replaces wiring, conduit, switches, receptacles, and electro/mechanical equipment
Removes abandoned electrical systems
Responsibilities include high and low tension systems, metering and relaying
Makes motor repairs
Installs low voltage wiring and cabling
Works from blueprints and schematics to determine location and layout of circuits, conduits and wiring
Installs new local services for lighting and appliances
Uses hand and power tools
Requisitions materials and supplies as needed
Keeps work area neat, clean and safe
Completes required departmental paperwork in a timely and legible fashion
Communicates with patients, visitors, and other Hospital employees with tact and courtesy
Follows through on all assigned duties until completion
Maintains personal appearance in accordance with departmental policy on dress and uniform
Performs other duties as requested by senior management
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma.
Five years experience at the journeyman or senior level. Substantial knowledge of the work of the Operational Section.
Successful completion of electrical apprentice program . Class “B” electricians card.
Must have knowledge of electrical codes.
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate with others by writing.
Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand equipment used on the job.
Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolds.
Must be physically capable of performing the work expected in an efficient manner.
Must have knowledge of safety rules, practices and equipment.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work with other people.
Must be capable of strenuous physical activity.
NICET qualified for maintenance and installation of fire alarm systems.
Ability to handle routine contacts with tact, courtesy and efficiency.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
