They will help patients reach maximum performance levels and use skills learned to the fullest. The therapist will function in the community within the limits of patients' capabilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides consultation in areas such as environmental design and adaptive equipment. Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with departmental standards. Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports. Designs and administers treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning. Uses therapeutic exercises and activities to improve or maintain strength, range of motion, and fine motor coordination. Instructs patients in adapted techniques and the use of adaptive equipment for meal preparation, home management, dressing, and other self-care skills. Trains patients in the use of upper-extremity prosthetic devices to resume previous daily routines. Participates in home assessments. Provides therapy for neurological integration and administers sensor-motor integration treatment techniques. Uses activities to increase developmental levels of patients. Designs and provides individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients. Administers treatment programs for various conditions including orthopedic, neurologic, cardiac, and balance disorders. Uses activities to improve judgment skills, reality orientation, and organizational skills. Provides prevention therapy to maintain functional skills and instructs patients in energy conservation and safety techniques. Instructs patients' families in personal care, especially proper transfer techniques. Administers prevocational programs to prepare patients to return to or enter a work setting. Provides activities to assess patients' organizational skills, attention spans, cognitive abilities, and adaptive equipment needs. Designs home programs and instructs patients or families in carrying out such programs. Performs related duties as assigned by management. Professional Requirements: Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean. Checks work email a minimum of once per shift. Completes all mandatory education within the given timeframe. Maintains regulatory requirements. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Wears identification while on duty. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled. Attends at least 75% of staff meetings and reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes. Actively checks and responds to emails. Actively participates in quality improvement activities. Complies with organizational policies and employee handbook. Communicates the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Job Knowledge & Qualifications: Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in occupational therapy required. One year of experience preferred but new graduates are welcome. Current valid state Occupational Therapist license required (or in the process of obtaining). Other Skills & Abilities: Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals and professional journals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts including probabilities and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
