Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: Allied Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift - Friday to Sunday Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: ARRT(R) or NMTCB, ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Ability to examine requests and verify orders on each patient. - Ability to question orders to the Radiologist before performing exams or contact the ordering provider for discrepancies. - Skills to properly identify patients using two identifiers and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. - Competence in preparing patients for procedures, providing full explanations, and documenting accordingly. - Ability to interview patients for complete medical history and review EMRs for pertinent clinical history. - Responsibility for exams from beginning to completion of dictated results. - Proficiency in preparing and administering IV contrast according to departmental protocols. - Evaluation of technical quality of images and consultation with a Radiologist if needed. - Capable of performing basic patient care functions and informing nursing personnel of any changes in patient condition. - Ability to initiate life support measures for patients when necessary. - Knowledge of performing invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies. - Understanding of radiation safety principles for self, employees, patients, and family members. - Adherence to fire and safety procedures. - Operation of radiology computer systems, including entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. - Documentation of contrast administration in the MAR. - Assistance to other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with MRI scans. - Maintenance of knowledge of MRI safety requirements for staff and patients around magnetic fields. Description: The position involves performing MRI scans on patients. Responsibilities include verifying orders and identifying patients. The technologist will prepare patients for procedures and document their medical history. The technologist assumes responsibility for exams from start to finish. Preparation and administration of IV contrast are required as per protocols. The technologist evaluates image quality and consults with Radiologists when needed. Basic patient care functions, including monitoring patient conditions, are part of the role. The position entails adhering to infection control policies during invasive procedures. Clienttion safety and compliance with fire procedures are essential. Experience with radiology computer systems is required. The technologist will assist other medical personnel during MRI procedures. Maintaining knowledge of MRI safety for staff and patients is crucial.
