The Special Procedure Technologist provides direct care pre, intra, and post-procedure for patients undergoing heart and vascular procedures. The incumbent assists physicians and delivers quality patient and family-centered care. Key responsibilities include performing IV starts, patient preparation, monitoring hemodynamics, operating equipment, documenting procedures, managing vascular access sites, and providing patient and family education. The technologist monitors patients undergoing routine invasive and interventional procedures. The role includes providing intra-procedural technical support and ensuring quality patient and family-centered care. Effective communication with coworkers, physicians, patients, families, and all ancillary departments is necessary. The technologist performs quality assurance checks on technical equipment and department skill validations. Maintaining radiation safety standards for staff and patients is essential. On-call duties are required as per the department schedule. Special Procedure Technologists must be able to first assist physicians using sterile technique. They must fully participate in 3D imaging, vascular, and cerebral cases. They may also utilize intravascular ultrasound, fractional flow reserve, optical coherence tomography, and other necessary technologies. The position involves physical demands such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Core responsibilities include maintaining proper documentation and following all safety protocols.
