Description: The role involves providing occupational therapy services to a diverse patient population. The patient diagnoses include spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, cardiac rehab, orthopedic conditions, etc. Travelers will primarily work in inpatient settings. Staffing includes a charge nurse available seven days a week, primarily working Monday to Friday with rotating weekends. A patient care aide is present in the inpatient unit. A weekend commitment of every other Saturday or Sunday is required, with a day off during the week scheduled for those working a weekend shift. A sign-up sheet is available for holiday shifts. Scrub color: black or dark pants, burgundy dress shirts or polos. Team structure includes a hospitalist or intensivist in-house. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts vary, starting at 6:30 a.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Schedules are created by the staffing captain. Float between units within the hospital may occur. Orientation consists of one day for hospital-wide and two to three days for unit-specific training. Experience with physical disabilities is preferred. Pediatric patients may include those requiring care for lymphedema, vestibular issues, or wound care, though experience with pediatrics is not mandatory for travelers. Cancellations may occur up to four shifts for a 13-week assignment; three shifts may be canceled for shorter assignments. Charting system utilized is Cerner.
