Job Title: Staff Pharmacist - Oncology Profession: Pharmacist Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 5 years extensive acute care clinical experience License: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) required Certifications: Board Certification Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) Certification is strongly preferred Must-Have: Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency in Oncology is strongly preferred Description: The Staff Pharmacist in Oncology is responsible for providing patient-centered care in a multidisciplinary practice setting. This includes collaborating with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other personnel. Services provided include assessing patient therapy for appropriateness and incorporating age-specific modifications. Clinical interventions to prevent adverse drug events will also be conducted. The pharmacist will conduct clinical research and participate in professional development programs. They will serve as a liaison to other departments by providing operational support and educational services. Responsibilities include maintaining knowledge of regulations governing the preparation of intravenous admixtures, chemotherapy, and sterile products. Supervising pharmacy technicians and other support personnel is a key component of the role. The pharmacist is responsible for overseeing the inventory of medications required for practice. They will also develop and update department and nursing policies. Working with the oncology team to standardize ordering procedures for chemotherapeutic medications is essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently without direct supervision. Supervision of support personnel is also required. Traveler must have their own vehicle for this position. All requested time off must be included in the profile. Profile must include permanent address. Robust knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems, automated medication dispensing systems, and IV room equipment is necessary. The role may require holiday coverage if needed.
