This role serves active individuals of all ages and in various settings. Responsibilities include covering athletic events and after-school activities. Prevention, evaluation, and management of athletic injuries are key duties. You will collect histories, perform physical evaluations, diagnose injuries, and determine a plan of action. Communication of findings and the plan of action with athletes and their guardians will be necessary. Management of concussions involves assessment, diagnosis, monitoring symptoms, and overseeing the return to play progression. Documentation of treatments and evaluations is required. You will observe and analyze potential causes of injuries to prevent future occurrences. Responsibilities also include occupational health and rehabilitation services. This includes performing assessments and testing to assist patients and employers. Coordination of schedules for event coverage is a part of the role. Working as a physician extender in the orthopedic clinic involves taking histories and scheduling surgeries. You will also educate patients and perform other related duties as needed.
