License: Eligible for Speech-Language Pathologist license to practice in the state of WI. Certifications: Must hold and maintain Wisconsin Speech-Language Pathologist license. Must maintain BLS certification. Must-Have: Professional degree in speech language pathology required. Must have a Master’s degree in speech pathology from an accredited program. Must maintain a valid, current driver's license. Must have exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Intermediate proficiency with computers is required. Strong assessment and planning skills. Strong quantitative and analytical competency. Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. Description: The Speech Language Pathologist position assesses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders. The goal is to help individuals enhance their ability to communicate and swallow safely. Responsibilities include performing direct patient care, assessing and treating speech, language, and swallowing disorders. The position requires completing patient documentation, including initial evaluations, plans of care, progress reports, and discharge reports. Contacting insurance companies regarding benefits is also part of the role. Preparation for evaluation and treatment sessions is needed. Education of staff, including nurses, physicians, dietitians, and food service workers, regarding results and recommendations following evaluations is essential. The Speech Language Pathologist will provide guidance based on the most up-to-date research. Creating in-service presentations and educational opportunities for staff is required. Collaboration with healthcare providers is necessary to provide patient-centered treatment. Cleaning treatment rooms following sessions is part of the job. Reminder calls to patients will be provided. Aiding patients and families in navigating the hospital is an important responsibility. Performing other duties as requested is also expected.
