Job Title: Cath Lab Tech Profession: Radiology / Cardiology Specialty: Cath Lab Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 8 hours (13:00 - 21:00) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) required Must-Have: Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience is required. Catheterization experience is preferred. Description: Aids physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of heart, lung, and blood vessel disorders. Conducts invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests of cardiovascular and pulmonary systems. Provides support for diagnostic and therapeutic coronary angiographies. Assists with electrophysiological and peripheral vascular exams. Maintains equipment and records test results. Prepares patient rooms and equipment for cardiovascular procedures using clean and sterile techniques. Ensures equipment is in good working condition. Operates specialized equipment. Supports physicians by assisting in the insertion of catheters through blood vessels. Completes electrocardiograms (EKGs or ECGs) by attaching electrodes to the patient and manipulating the electrocardiograph machine. Completes treadmill stress tests by connecting the patient to an EKG monitor and observing the effects of increased exertion. Performs non-invasive peripheral vascular tests by collecting ultrasound echoes to assess heart function, blood flow, and circulation. Prepares and administers contrast media following established procedures. Documents patient services by completing necessary records, forms, reports, and logs. Maintains equipment by ensuring proper operation, troubleshooting problems, and following preventive maintenance procedures. Evaluates diagnostic studies for quality results. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Commits to safety and well-being in all work conditions. Adheres to vaccination requirements as a condition of employment.
