Job Title: Polysomnographer / Sleep Technician Position Details Specialty: Sleep Studies / Neurodiagnostics Setting: Sleep Lab, Hospital, or Outpatient Clinic Contract Type: 13 Weeks (Travel or Temp Assignment) Schedule: Variable shifts (Evening/Night preferred), weekends/holidays may be required Patient Population: Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric Certifications & Licensure Required: High School Diploma or GED RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) or equivalent certification Current BLS Certification Preferred: CRT/RRT or other allied health credentials (if applicable) Prior hospital or accredited sleep lab experience Experience Minimum 1 year of recent sleep study / polysomnography experience Competence in sleep staging, scoring, and troubleshooting of sleep disorders Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, and other PAP titration therapies Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) and sleep study software systems Core Responsibilities Prepare and calibrate equipment required for polysomnographic testing Apply electrodes and sensors using the 10-20 electrode placement system Monitor and record physiological data (EEG, EKG, EMG, airflow, oxygen saturation, etc.) during sleep studies Perform CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen titration as ordered Document patient behavior, events, and responses during studies Recognize and respond to sleep-related events or medical emergencies Score sleep records and generate reports for physician interpretation Maintain strict adherence to infection control, patient safety, and confidentiality standards Educate patients on sleep disorders, treatment options, and equipment usage Key Skills Strong knowledge of sleep physiology and sleep disorders Proficiency in PAP titration and troubleshooting equipment Excellent patient communication and comfort management Strong documentation and data entry skills Ability to work independently during overnight studies Additional Notes COVID-19 & Flu Vaccinations may be required per facility guidelines All RTO (Requested Time Off) must be submitted upfront Must comply with AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) and hospital standards
