Overview We are seeking a motivated and technically adept Business Analyst (Associate) to join our Municipal Investment Banking & Community Investments team. This role will be central to designing and implementing a unified data platform that will consolidate disparate systems currently used across our LIHTC syndication business (RBC Community Investments) along with building and enhancing systems that serve the Municipal Investment Banking business. The candidate will work closely with senior leadership, internal developers, and third-party vendors to map business processes, analyze and clean complex data sets, write business requirements, and support the design and launch of proprietary systems that will serve as the backbone of our Municipal Investment Banking and Community Investments businesses. These new systems are being designed with a heavy emphasis on AI and agentic workflows. Key Responsibilities Business Process Mapping: Meet with business stakeholders to document workflows, information management practices, and data flows; identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process and data integration. Data Analysis & Management: Work with large, complex SQL-based datasets; reconcile data definitions with real-world use cases; clean, map, and organize data for migration into a unified system. Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Translate business needs into clear, detailed business requirements and functional specifications; partner with banking technology teams to manage development efforts. Technology Development & Implementation: Support design, build, testing, and rollout of the new data platform; coordinate UAT, training, and adoption; provide ongoing support and iterative enhancements post-launch. Ad-Hoc Model & Report Development: Assist in producing automated financial models and reports leveraging Python, Excel VBA macros and SQL Excel connections. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between Community Investments stakeholders, senior management, and technology teams; ensure alignment on goals, priorities, and timelines. Qualifications 4–7 years of experience in business analysis, product management, or program/project management within real estate technology or financial services. Experience with affordable housing, LIHTC, or asset management data is a plus but not required. Technical Skills: AI systems and tools; familiarity with LLMs and APIs; proficiency with GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code is a plus. Strong SQL skills; ability to analyze large, complex datasets; familiarity with data modeling, ETL, and database design; understanding of software development lifecycles and agile methodologies. Programming and tools: Python, JavaScript (React, Angular, NodeJS), HTML/CSS; proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint; VBA macros; experience with JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, Figma preferred. Business Skills: Requirements gathering, documentation, stakeholder management; strong communication; experience working with application developers; ability to work in a fast-paced, build-from-scratch environment and manage long-term, large-scale projects. Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, computer science, information systems, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications (PMP, CBAP) a plus but not required.
