Vice President Tax - North America

. The Vice President, Tax – North America will lead all tax functions for Sixt’s growing U.S. and Canadian operations. Reporting to the CFO North America and functionally to the EVP Tax in Munich, this executive will oversee tax strategy, compliance, planning, and risk management. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, they will integrate tax into strategic and operational decisions, balancing global governance with the agility needed in a fast-scaling market. Responsibilities
Tax Strategy & Governance: Develop and execute a North America tax strategy aligned with global goals, serving as the key liaison with the global tax team Compliance & Reporting: Oversee all direct and indirect tax compliance and lead tax provision processes under ASC 740 and IFRS Planning & Risk Management: Drive tax planning for business initiatives and implement strategies to mitigate emerging regulatory risks Business Partnership: Advise cross-functional teams on tax impacts of operational and financial decisions, supporting pricing and profitability Audit & Controversy Management: Manage federal, state/provincial, and CRA audits, ensuring efficient resolution of tax disputes Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead a North America tax team and foster alignment with Munich’s tax function to promote best practices Qualifications
Experience
: 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including senior leadership roles in multinational or Big 4/public accounting plus in-house corporate tax and broad exposure to U.S. federal/state and Canadian taxation, with solid grounding in IFRS/ASC 740 Education
: Master’s in Tax or JD/LLM in Tax preferred; CPA or equivalent required Technical Proficiency: Expertise in income tax accounting, indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and strategic planning, with a strong grasp of industry-specific areas such as motor vehicle rental taxes, sales tax on ancillary fees, depreciation incentives, and state franchise taxes Leadership & Interpersonal
Skills: Hands-on, collaborative leader who thrives in a matrixed environment, effectively balances global and local priorities, communicates complex tax concepts clearly, and drives scalable growth Soft Skills
