The Dental Assistant will support dentists during procedures, prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and provide excellent patient care. The ideal candidate should be organized, have strong communication skills, and be committed to ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for every patient.
Qualifications
- Candidate must possess high school diploma/GED. Candidate must have completed a dental assisting training program and possess a minimum of 1 year experience as a dental assistant.
- Candidate must meet the training and experience qualifications in order to be considered and are advised to contact the training facility/source to verify accreditation status.
- Must be trained in four-handed dentistry; Must possess thorough working knowledge of Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes; OSHA regulations; and the Arkansas Dental Practice Act.
- One year minimum experience as a registered dental assistant required if trained at CODA-accredited entity; Five years minimum experience if trained or made license eligible through a non-CODA accredited entity Must be currently licensed/certified in the State of Arkansas as a registered dental assistant; must possess permit for the following expanded functions: 1) radiography, 2) coronal polishing, and 3) nitrous oxide administration.
Job Requirements
- Organize and assist dental hygienists in the delivery of dental procedures in Oral Health Clinic;
- Guide hygiene patients through dental processes prior to treatment, educate patients in oral hygiene instruction, and provide postoperative instructions;
- Perform assessments that include obtaining and reviewing patient health histories and taking/recording blood pressure and other vital signs;
- Perform appropriate dental charting and treatment documentation in the electronic record;
- Expose and process dental radiographs of diagnostic quality;
- Administer nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia and monitor sedation cases;
- Perform coronal polishing;
- Perform in-office whitening.
- Perform daily and routine maintenance of dental hygiene equipment as assigned;
- Clean and sterilize dental instruments, supplies, and dental assist units and maintain organization and supply of sterilization area;
- Establish and maintain an organized, efficient, cost-effective inventory control system, continually monitoring supply levels and re-ordering by working with assigned purchaser;
- Maintain stock of daily supplies in all hygiene clinic rooms
- Review daily schedules and resolve conflicts as necessary;
- Perform a variety of clerical and administrative duties (answer telephones, make appointments, and other duties as assigned);
- Assist with front desk/business administration duties as assigned.
