Responsibilities

• Properly performs venipuncture on inpatients and outpatients.
• Properly disposes of all contaminated needles immediately upon completion of phlebotomy procedures.
• Completes all timed draws, STAT, and ASAP orders before ending the shift.
• Strictly follows Hospital and Lab policies/procedures regarding patient care with special attention to isolation procedures.
• Assists in orientation of new personnel as requested.

Qualifications

• Must have a current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certificate.
• Must meet the qualifications of unlicensed personnel to perform venipuncture, skin puncture, and arterial puncture.
• One year of experience in an Acute Care hospital preferred.
