Overview

The University of Wisconsin–Platteville is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Assistant Coach to join our Athletics and Recreation department. This is a 10-month, benefit-eligible position with a salary of $36,000 (equivalent to $42,546 annually for a full-time, 12-month appointment). The Assistant Coach plays a key role in developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams, providing expert instruction and guidance to help student-athletes reach their full potential while promoting health, safety, and a positive overall experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach, model, and reinforce proper, safe, and effective strength and conditioning methods and movements for student-athletes and coaches during the regular academic year.
  • Plan, create, and enhance summer strength and conditioning programs for current student-athletes, in coordination with sport coaches and the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
  • Develop a general physical preparation program for incoming student-athletes (freshmen and transfers).
  • Participate in the Sports Medicine and Sports Performance Learning Laboratory professional development series.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements to retain Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
  • Serve as a point of contact and liaison to sport coaches, medical staff, and student-athletes to monitor physical health and improve athletic performance.

Qualifications

  • Current certification: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or ability to maintain CSCS certification through ongoing professional development.
  • Strong knowledge of strength and conditioning principles, programming, and safe execution of movements.
  • Ability to collaborate with coaches, medical staff, and student-athletes to support health and performance.
