CACI is currently looking for a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior-level Hardware Engineer with Agile methodology experience to join our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Land Border Integration (LBI) Integrated Traveler Initiative 2.1 (ITI2.1) team in Northern Virginia. Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development and hardware integration for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
As a member of the ITI2.1 Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nation’s safety, security, and prosperity. CBP Officers and Border Patrol agents are on the front lines, every day, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity.

Responsibilities
- Analyze and decompose operational, mounting, cabling, power, and environmental requirements
- Research, identify, design, develop, test, and maintain hardware components
- Construct modular electronic systems utilizing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware and enclosures to protect systems from environmental hazards
- Configure systems using COTS and proprietary software
- Perform testing and troubleshooting
- Identify hardware component, process, and assembly improvements
- Develop assembly instructions, interpret engineering blueprints and technical terms
- Discern quality of parts and materials
- Contribute to Basis of Estimate (BOE) and Bill of Materials (BOM) buildups
- Identify quality control and testing steps
You Have
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria includes, but not limited to:
- 3-year check for felony convictions
- 1-year check for illegal drug use
- 1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud
- College degree (B.S.) in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline and 7+ years of related experience
- Experience building electronic systems in an enclosure with wires, screws, and electrical components
- Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with an on-site requirement in Sterling, VA
- Great interpersonal and excellent communication skills
You Are Good At
- Basic understanding of computer operating systems and networking
- Experience in working with cable, wire, and termination technologies
- CAT-6 Cable creation and testing
- Fundamental knowledge of electronic theory and basic electrical wiring principles (low voltage)
- Understanding of simple test equipment including multi-meters and cable testers
- Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for hardware containment and mounting systems
- Understanding of Gen 2 RFID
- Experience with network based cameras, including configuration and setup
- Creating and interpreting technical documentation
- Using power tools and hand tools
- Machining and manipulating metal, plastics, and composites
- Installing, configuring, and running operating systems including Windows and Linux
- Assembling devices using provided instructions
- Performing quality assurance checks on assembled or repaired devices
- Managing, troubleshooting, and preserving technical equipment
- Problem solving and time-management
Bonus
- Understanding of soldering standards with hands-on soldering experience

Pay Range
The Proposed Salary Range For This Position Is $103,800 - $218,100
