Role summary

The Hardware Engineer Lead plays a vital role in interdisciplinary project teams within industrial logistics and automotive environments. This role focuses on adapting electrical construction for various projects and supports both planning and onsite execution activities. The position works with the lead software engineer and/or Project Manager. This role also includes hands-on support during commissioning activities such as troubleshooting, rewiring, and implementing new wiring systems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical design tasks, including new project drawings, system modifications, and as-built documentation using EPLAN.
  • Support commissioning teams with troubleshooting and wiring adjustments.
  • Coordinate and manage all relevant technical information with both internal and external project team members.
  • Ensure compliance with Siemens Business Conduct Guidelines, including fiscal, EHS (Environment, Health, Safety), and export control regulations.
  • Monitor budget adherence for hardware-related project activities and minimize non-conformance costs (NCC).
  • Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and prepare technical documentation for change requests.
  • Support Siemens PM@Siemens methodology, quality management, and milestone deliverables per project guidelines.
  • Participate in bid phases by reviewing customer specifications and assessing technical feasibility.
  • Promote the use of Siemens products and services wherever applicable.
  • Facilitate knowledge management by gathering, documenting, and sharing lessons learned and technical expertise.
  • Encourage a team-focused work environment with an emphasis on professional development and collaboration.
  • Maintain clear, targeted, and open communication with all stakeholders and actively seek feedback.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • 5+ years of overall professional experience related to Engineering
  • 3+ years of professional experience in automation engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience with working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, especially EPLAN schematic creation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Prior professional experience with installation and commissioning
  • Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license in good standing
  • Travel for this role can vary, but expectation would be traveling up to 25% of the time depending on scope of assignment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience with conveyor systems, and storage/retrieval systems
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with industrial safety regulations and standards relevant to project implementation
  • 3+ years of experience with components and products from Siemens, SEW, Sick, Pilz, Wago, Festo
  • Certifications relevant to the role may be required based on project or regional standards
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, Spanish and German in particular
  • Experience with Ruplan

Location and employment type

This is a hybrid position located in Greenville, South Carolina. We are able to assist with relocation.

Other information

The pay range for this position is 80,920 - 138,720 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
