Overview
PeopleTec is seeking a Mid/Senior-Level Hardware Design Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location. This role involves working with a small team on a broad range of projects in laboratory and advanced manufacturing environments, collaborating with designers, test engineers, and manufacturing experts to develop and evaluate innovative technologies for rugged DoD applications and production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Design custom PCBs with large FPGA and microcontroller components for evaluation, development, and test of digital IPs.
- Participate in component selection for rugged environmental testing.
- Develop FPGA designs and firmware for components with the team.
- Prepare technical and progress reports, develop specifications, evaluate suppliers, and analyze test reports.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Procurement.
- Develop, test, and evaluate new technologies for survival in DoD-relevant hostile environments.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience
- 3+ years of PCB design experience
- Experience with Altium PCB design tools
- PCB design experience with component selection, schematic capture, layout, and release to fab
- RAM experience
- Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements
- Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging complex digital systems
- This position is not suitable for remote work.
- Travel: 10%
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance with potential for higher programs; clearance must be maintained. Final Secret (or higher) clearance must be obtained within 6 months or enrolled in Continuous Vetting (CV).
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a relevant field
Desired Skills
- Experience designing PCBs to meet military standards and specifications
- Familiarity with FPGA component selection/application in systems design
- PCB design experience with DDR memory
- Experience with Xilinx and Microchip SoC FPGAs
- DOD Top Secret clearance or SCI access (preferred)
