Overview
Nuclear Imaging Hardware Engineer – Siemens Healthineers
The Nuclear Imaging Hardware Engineer will join our Hardware Engineering department to work with electrical, embedded system and mechanical engineers on cutting edge SPECT and PET systems. The role interfaces with research and manufacturing to drive innovation while ensuring ongoing manufacturing maintains the highest quality standards. The focus includes planar image quality of detector and collimator systems, event detection and positioning, uniformity and energy corrections, and ensuring collimator quality. The position is primarily onsite in Hoffman Estates, with some travel to Knoxville, TN and potential for remote work when appropriate.

Responsibilities
- Development of SPECT molecular imaging system technologies in the collimation and detector subsystems.
- Detector and collimator image quality assessments and correlations to design factors.
- Radiation / gamma ray shielding design and optimization.
- Collimator fabrication support via performance analysis and fixture design.
- Collimator performance calculations and simulations.
- Data collection, processing and analysis with recommendations for change or improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience.
- Team collaboration with Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.
- Authoring technical documentation and specifications.
- Data analysis skills.
- Programming capability for data analysis (e.g., C++, MATLAB, Python).
Travel and Work Location
This role is primarily onsite at Hoffman Estates, IL with some travel to Knoxville, TN. Potential for remote work when appropriate.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual base pay: Min $106,800 – Max $160,100. Factors affecting starting pay include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life, disability, paid time off, and more (subject to eligibility).
